Biography

Christine Field-Davies was born in South Wales in the beautiful Cynon valley town of Aberdare, within a nation famed for its rich heritage of poetry and song, she herself achieving the qualifications, Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music as a singing teacher, and Licentiate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as a music teacher.

Many traumatic and also wonderful situations have touched Christine’s life over the years, creating within her a well of deep understanding, which as it flows, releases heart melting poetic rivers of faith, hope, love, encouragement and remembrance, which cannot fail but tug at the very heart strings of the observer.

Christine has received both the Royal and Presidential seal of approval for her work from the Palace at Westminster and also The Whitehouse, and with ongoing encouragement and support from the late Sir George Thomas, Lord Viscount Tonypandy, and with the help of MP Ms Ann Clwyd and The Welsh Arts Council she ventured to the USA, where she received international commendation for her poetic achievements.

Upon leaving the teaching profession, in 1997 Christine paid her first visit to Uganda, Africa, where she resided within the confines of an orphanage in Kabale on the border with Rwanda. Each day saw many children sitting upon her bed, two of these children eventually taking up permanent residence within Christine’s heart.

Although remaining in Uganda, this newly acquired son and daughter have grown up into fine young adults, and along with her two children and five grandchildren are her pride and joy.

Over the years as Christine has journeyed to many nations, she has continued to be confronted by so many heartbreaking situations, which have inevitably had a great impact upon her. By offering youthe opportunity of purchasing exquisite, personalised memorabilia, beautifully adorned with these inspirational poems, this facility will provide 'The Need to Remember' with a means by which it may also help support the UK charity based in Wales, ‘An Open Door’, registered in Uganda and India where they provide homes for street children and abandoned babies.

Along with generating awareness for that which is close to Christine’s heart, The Need to Remember will also be offering support to the UK charity ‘Touching Tiny Lives’ (Action Medical Research) as they research possible causes of miscarriage, Precious Moments being dedicated to this issue, one which affected Christine personally and which she deals with, with great understanding and sensitivity, aiming to help those who have also suffered this traumatic experience, by providing them with a special way by which they too can remember their precious child.
